Ampersand International Melbourne is delighted to welcome former RACV Chief Marketing Officer Nick Thomas into its fold, with Nick taking up the Managing Director role recently created by Founder & CEO Hayley James.
The move marks an exciting career shift for the strategic commercial leader and CMO, who brings with him more than 20 years’ experience leading teams across blue chip brands in Australia and the UK. Nick’s commercial leadership skills, and passion for developing talented individuals are well aligned with the executive search industry.

Originally from the UK, Nick forged an international reputation with the telco brand O2, where his roles included Head of New Customer Marketing and Head of Digital. He relocated to Australia in April 2015 to join Telstra as its general manager of consumer business with responsibility for all brand positioning activity and consumer advertising, before taking up the newly created CMO role with RACV in 2017.
During his tenure at RACV, Nick led a restructure of the marketing function, building a new leadership team and appointing a new lead creative agency.
In his role as MD, Nick will be working closely with Hayley and team to usher in a new era of enhanced service delivery in the executive search industry, with a strong focus on innovation and disruption. The pair has previously worked together — Hayley placed Nick in the RACV CMO role then collaborating via Ampersand’s advisory arm to drive the growth of the RACV marketing function.
